Review

Da-Da-Daaa! With that catching summary who wouldn't want to read 'The Last Academy'? Hell, even the name sounds kick-ass! The cover, wow, the cover stood out from the book shelf with it's haunting gothic-y look. So without a second thought I purchased it.

But I am ashamed to say that after a few chapters I was regretting buying the book. Everything was moving so...boring. I literally had to force my self to continue reading the next page.  Sure, there were some exciting parts where I kept in asking my self, "who the hell is that creep?!", it for the most part I found it dull. The characters didn't seem to have enough to them and the narrator seemed so...naïve. Maybe it was done purposely since she is supposed to be a fourteen-year-old, but to be honest, I never remember my self being as childish as she was.

But if you still want to give it a try, go ahead! Even though I would give it a 3/5 stars, I have to admit the ending was unexpected. It was totally original and it caught me off guard -something that is hard to catch me in. This is a PARANORMAL / SUSPENSE  with a pinch of like a thriller or horror theme.

Happy Readings!
-Yours Truley :)

Uncommon Criminals (Heist Society #2) by Ally Carter

Book Title: Uncommon Criminals ( BOOK #2 of HEIST SOCIETY)
Author: Ally Carter
  • PublisherHyperion Books for Children
  • Publication date: 6/21/2011

Official SummaryKatarina Bishop has worn a lot of labels in her short life: Friend. Niece. Daughter. Thief. But for the last two months she’s simply been known as the girl who ran the crew that robbed the greatest museum in the world. That’s why Kat isn’t surprised when she’s asked to steal the infamous Cleopatra Emerald so it can be returned to its rightful owners. There are only three problems. First, the gem hasn’t been seen in public in thirty years. Second, since the fall of theU Egyptian empire and the suicide of Cleopatra, no one who holds the emerald keeps it for long—and in Kat’s world, history almost always repeats itself. But it’s the third problem that makes Kat’s crew the most nervous, and that is . . . the emerald is cursed. Kat might be in way over her head, but she’s not going down without a fight. After all, she has her best friend— the gorgeous Hale—and the rest of her crew with her as they chase the Cleopatra around the globe, dodging curses and realizing that the same tricks and cons her family has used for centuries are useless this time. Which means, this time, Katarina Bishop is making up her own rules. Critics and fans alike have fallen for the Heist Society series (no conning necessary). With more mystery, non-stop action, romance and humor, this second novel is just as irresistible.
Personal favorite Quote:

“Um…” Simon started slowly “at the risk of stating the obvious I feel I have to point out that Interpol has the worldʼs best database of international criminals.”
“Thatʼs the idea ” Gabrielle said with a nod.
“And I feel compelled to remind you that weʼre international criminals ” he finished but Kat was already smiling.
“Donʼt worry Simon. Itʼs not like anyone in there knows it was a bunch of teenagers who robbed the
Henley.” -Ally Carter / Uncommon Criminals

Kat, Kat, Kat, Kitty Kat if I were I thief I would sure look up to some one like her. Genius, amazing, pretty, speaks Russian, and a inspiring character! Along the way she steals the one thing her Uncle Eddie has ever forbidden her to steal...the supposedly cursed Cleopatra's Emerald.  She keeps finding new ways to make things work out to steal cursed Cleopatra's emerald -not only once, but twice! Dealing with boy problems along the way. And having to to learn -the hard way- that not everyone is who they say they are.

I laughed softly. “You couldn’t handle it.”
He raised an eyebrow at that. “Is that a challenge, Sage? I can handle a lot.”
Excerpt From: Mead, Richelle. “The Indigo Spell.”

My Review:

Ever since I first discovered the world of Richelle Mead through a classmate a few years back, I was hooked. All I can say is...W.O.W! Richelle has outdone herself with this one! All the action and mysteries throughout this book keep you flipping page after page!

Being spin off series of "Vampire Academy", "Bloodlines" -book #1 of the Bloodline series- had to step it up and rise up to the standard. Something that it already surpassed with flying colors!

Sydney Sage, a young alchemist who is stuck in between what she feels is right and what she was raised to believe,  overcomes so many obstacles but always seems to stay on her feet. With humor, action, passion, suspense, and steamy make-out sections, the Indigo Spell is one of a kind.. making it must read. So what are you still doing here?! Go out there and buy it!

Reviews:
"Strong writing, well-rounded characters, and an enticing hook [of] mercenary/celebutante angels breathe life into the world Speer has created."--(Publishers Weekly )

"An intriguing premise...with an action-oriented mystery sure to entice readers."--(Voice of Youth Advocates (VOYA)

When I first saw the book in Barnes and Nobles, I admit it...it didn't even catch my attention. I have read several angel books so I thought it would be cliché. But as i scrolled down the iTunes Store, I saw it again, and with just a pinch of skepticism I downloaded a sample. Holy Cow! Did I regret not buying the book sooner! Within the first few pages, I was hooked!
Trust me when I says that out of the hundreds of books I have read, only a handful have such a unique plot line as this one! At the end of each page you can't help but to want to read more. The twist and turns in the plot line keep you guessing throughout the whole book up until the very end.
